Live Streaming: A Comprehensive Guide to Creating and Uploading Content to Your Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV Channels

I want to talk about using Live Streams to create your content and then adding it to your channel. How to do it, and how to create revenue from it.

I would decide on how long you want to talk- this is the planning stage. 30 minutes or 1 hour. If you have a very engaged audience it can be 2-3 hours but most of us don’t have that yet. You can also plan to invite guests. These guests will get exposure on your channel AND on your live stream. There is a lot of value in it for them. You can have them on for the entire time or just for a bit of time. I think having them on for just part of the show will get lots of people to watch. You want to also plan ahead of time to be able to get the word out about the live stream and your guest.

You can promote it on social media, email lists and place advertisements on it. You can even send out post cards and texts. Those are the 2 things people always read.

You can grow your following by being consistant with the Live stream. It doesnt have to be perfect because you can edit it later for your TV channel.

Setting Up for Live Streaming

Choosing the Right Equipment
  • Camera: A high-quality camera is essential for clear and professional-looking live streams. Depending on your budget, you can choose from options like the Logitech C920 for a basic setup or a DSLR/mirrorless camera for higher quality.

  • Microphone: Good audio is just as important as video. Consider using a USB condenser microphone like the Blue Yeti or a lavalier microphone for hands-free operation.

  • Lighting: Proper lighting can make a huge difference in the quality of your live stream. Use softbox lights or ring lights to ensure your face and background are well-lit without harsh shadows.

Selecting Streaming Software

  • OBS Studio: Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a free, open-source platform that’s popular for live streaming. It offers customizable scenes, transitions, and support for multiple sources.

  • Streamlabs: For a more user-friendly experience, Streamlabs offers a streamlined version of OBS with additional features like built-in alerts and overlays.

  • Wirecast: If you need a professional-grade option, Wirecast provides advanced features like multi-camera switching and integrated streaming to multiple platforms.

  • The easiest way to do this is to live stream from your favorite social media. I do it from Tiktok, but you can do it from Facebook, Instagram and even Linkedin in now! Take the best of what you have and turn it into a show for your channel! And they are FREE!
